Dear Supervisor Yee:
RE: Mixed Income Housing

The League of Women Voters of Sacramento County participated in the effort for the adoption of the County's mixed income housing ordinance. We supported the County's Housing Element and cheered when the ordinance enabling the mixed income portion was adopted. We continue to support the ordinance as enacted.

The ordinance has become a matter of interest again as the County attempts to settle the BIA law suit. We oppose settling the suit. The lower court rejected the BIA position and the County is in a good position to win an appeal. We oppose negotiations which are not public for this issue which had extensive public hearings when many groups, including the League, gave compelling testimony in support of the final draft of the ordinance.

Since you were not a member of the Board of Supervisors when the Housing Element was adopted and the enabling ordinance passed, we would like to schedule a meeting with you to present our position not only in support of the ordinance, but in support of public bodies taking action on public matters in public.

Sincerely,

Roseanna Torretto
President
