Our mission is to empower voters, protect voting rights and defend democracy. We promote informed, active participation in government, and work to increase understanding of vital public policy issues through education and advocacy.

Subject to its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, the affairs of LWVSC are conducted by the Board of Directors. The Board shall plan and direct work necessary to carry out its projects and programs on selected governmental issues as adopted by the National League Convention, the State League Convention, and the LWVSC Annual Meeting.     2026-27 Board Members:

LWVSC is a nonpartisan political organization, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government. At the same time, we are always working on issues of concern to members and the public. We are a member of the League of Women Voters of the United States and the League of Women Voters of California.  As an organization of individuals of all gender identities located in California's Capitol, we are uniquely positioned to study and advocate on  political issues at both the local and state levels. Incorporated cities in Sacramento County include Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Galt, Isleton, Rancho Cordova and Sacramento.

• Incorporated in 1965
• Expanded representation in 2005 to entire county of Sacramento, changed name to League of Women Voters of Sacramento County
• Became 501(c)(3) corporation in 2015.
